Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session

Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.

The British racer, who took the title advantage from his teammate by just one point after his victory in Mexico City two weeks ago, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.

Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver throughout the hour before sprint qualifying due at the evening session.

The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the points battle, lying 36 points Norris, was classified in P17 as his Red Bull team followed a alternative strategy.

His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to go off, though minor, when he lost control at the fourth corner during the early running.

Tsunoda spun out over the curbs on exit before spinning across the run-off area, and was blessed to avoid just a light touch of the wall.

Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the conclusion of the session, turning around through the fast downhill Mergulho corner approaching the final corner on to the main straight.

The seven-time champion finished practice in 19th, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.

The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with the German's car third fastest, 0.619secs slower than the Australian's time.

Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
